"Youth Entre-ployment Support for the Deaf" won grant
The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies’ (DLS-CSB SDEAS) project proposal “Youth Entre-ployment Support for the Deaf” was chosen as one of the 59 winners at the recently concluded 2006 Panibagong Paraan project grant competition organized by The World Bank in collaboration with local and international development partners. It will be implemented within a one-year period using P1 million grant from the Australian Agency for International Development Philippines-Australia Community Assistance Program.
The project aims to empower deaf students and graduates of DLS-CSB to become micro entrepreneurs.
“We are truly grateful for this grant as this will go a long way towards fulfilling our goal of improving career opportunities for the deaf through employment and entrepreneurship,” says Theresa Christine Benitez-dela Torre, dean of SDEAS.
During the exhibit at the Mega Trade Hall in SM Megamall, the DLS-CSB SDEAS proposal also emerged as the People’s Choice.
